Greenleaf – new MD Emily Vernon
phs Group has appointed Emily Vernon as the new Managing Director of its horticulture services company phs Greenleaf.
Emily takes the helm at Greenleaf following six years at phs Compliance and will build on the firm’s position as horticultural experts.
With more than 8,000 customers nationwide, Greenleaf has over 25 years’ experience of providing horticultural services, including indoor and outdoor planting displays, artificial and live planting, living walls, grounds maintenance services and decorated Christmas trees. Greenleaf’s customers span a variety of sectors including hospitality, retail, FMs and the public sector. It also holds a royal warrant for the installation and maintenance of plant displays at Buckingham Palace.

DCspine Network PoP Now Available in Flagship Data Center Greenhouse Datacenters in the Netherlands
Naaldwijk, the Netherlands, 4 August 2020 – Greenhouse Datacenters, a colocation data center developer/operator from the Rotterdam/The Hague region in the Netherlands, has expanded its collaboration with DCspine by announcing that DCspine’s network Point-of-Presence (PoP) is now also available in Greenhouse Datacenters flagship facility. The network PoP enables colocation customers in Greenhouse DC 2 to make on-demand connections with more than 70 data centers in the Netherlands and Belgium, 30 of which are in the Amsterdam region.
Thirteen housing boosts FM services with mobile tech
The North East’s largest housing association, Thirteen is transforming its facilities management (FM) services with new mobile workforce management technology supplied by Leeds-based BigChange.
The system, which incorporates CRM, job scheduling, a customer portal, vehicle tracking and a mobile app, is helping to improve services, reduce costs and boost productivity.
Thirteen’s facilities management team provides services such as grounds maintenance, estate care, caretaker and cleaning services to its 70,000 customers.
Union Industries acts fast on supply of rapid roll freezer door
Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has supplied and installed one of its innovative Eiger fast acting rapid roll freezer doors within three weeks of receiving the order.
The Leeds-based company was called into action by Oakland International, a UK and Ireland multi temperature supply chain specialist, after experiencing problems with an existing door from another supplier, installed as part of a freezer extension at its Corby depot in 2018.
Winners of the CHSA’s 2020 Undergraduate Bursary Announced
Three talented and hard-working young people – Sidney Beckles, Garry Richford and Anya Squires – have been named as the recipients of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s (CHSA) 2020 Undergraduate Bursaries.
Going to King’s College London to study Philosophy, Sidney’s mother works for Comax UK Healthline. Sidney is motivated and ambitious. She volunteered at a care home whilst taking her A’ levels, valuing the opportunity to engage with a range of different people. She intends to use the bursary to fund extracurricular learning and development opportunities.
New management team at phs Compliance
A new management team has been appointed at property and facilities management services firm phs Compliance.
Dan Lee will lead the phs Compliance business as managing director, having been appointed from crate rental provider phs Teacrate, both part of phs Group. Dan spent nearly two years as managing director of Teacrate, delivering a restructure of the business and launching new digital trading platforms. During this time, he also managed phs’ hygiene division in Ireland. Prior to joining phs, he spent a decade at private-equity owned Safetykleen UK, most recently as managing director and part of the group executive team.

“We have lost nearly one third of our Q3 revenues relative to last year due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, our On-site business broad geographic mix, strong Facilities Management (FM) and large integrated accounts combined with Benefits & Rewards have given us resilience.
At the start of the crisis, our focus was on protecting the health and safety of our people, consumers and clients. With a significant number of sites fully or partially closed, we immediately identified all means to protect our cash and reduce our costs.
